That Porn Guy

We’ve all heard the famous quote from Spider-Man in which the authors let us know that “with great power comes great responsibility.” I’d now like to modify that to say that “with great responsibility comes great power!”

Let me ’splain.

This weekend, Audrey and I were out partying it up at a friend’s birthday party. Prior to the party, we had dinner and drinks at this very swanky bar and restaurant where we are regulars here in the area. We’re not really “sit down and dine” type people, and we always sit at the bar for our drinks and food. Lots of reasons really, but mostly because we just like interacting with new people and new friends, as well as getting to know “our bartender.”

So now that we have found ourselves spinning our lives off into this new career, we’ve decided that when people ask me what I do for a living, I say to them: “I’m a pornographer.” I haven’t had the opportunity to say it to too many people, but this weekend, we had at least two amazing reactions to this comment. The first was while we were at the bar eating our dinner. A couple sitting next to us, who we had figured out by this time were having an illicit little undercover flirtation away from their spouses, the girl asks what I do, and I of course respond “I’m a pornographer.”

She stares at me like the proverbial deer caught in the headlights. She stares for another second, obviously deciding what her reaction would be…and decides on: “That’s so cool!” The rest of our conversation with them veered off into a million questions, all the while with the both of them maintaining the thought that what we do is “cool”. Later on in the evening, we spring the same answer to someone who asks, and get a nearly identical reaction.

So this begs the question…do people really think it’s “cool”, or are they just too embarassed to admit otherwise, and that, in fact, they want to look cool in our eyes by being so open-minded? The jury is still out on this. I truly believe that a lot of people will think it’s cool because as I’ve said before, almost everyone is interested in porn and sex on some level. Some people think it’s a “dream job” and they’re impressed we have the balls to actually take the plunge. However, I’m still waiting for that one, truly honest person to tell me that they don’t think it’s cool…I’m dying to see where that conversation leads.

So to bring this full circle, my new responsibility of being a pornographer, has certainly given me the power to take charge of nearly any conversation I have with people. Maybe the quote should be “With a cool job and honesty comes great reactions from people and the ability to make their jaws hit the floor.”

Porn is something we’re all fascinated with. I’ve seen reports that nearly all men, and most women look at porn in some capacity or another every single day. And that’s by choice. I’m not talking about the accidental porn that we see from time to time like this gem:

I’m talking about real porn that people are interested in seeing and seek out on purpose for their own enjoyment. I’ve always done it as long as I can remember. I think my first boy/girl thing was for a Playboy centerfold. It was Louann Fernald, Miss June 1979. There’s also a photo of a girl that was wearing a macrame bikini in a 70’s Playboy that eludes me, but I’ll have to track it down…that picture was mega hot. So, I think that it’s always been something I’ve wanted to be involved in, and slowly have taken steps over the years to become more involved. When my wife mentioned that she wanted to start her own amateur website about 4 years ago, that sealed the deal and now here we are.

Our goal is to make porn “fun” again. I’m not sure about the rest of you, and I’d certainly appreciate some feedback on this, but I’m not a very big fan of the trends to which adult entertainment is going these days. More explicit, more violent, more extreme in every possible capacity…and I’m not sure that’s a good thing. To me, there’s nothing about that direction that excites me…and I can’t believe that there are an endless number of people who want to see gaping, stretching anal shots, or gallons upon gallons of cum drenching a girl. Regardless, you’ll never see that kind of thing from us. We’re keeping it as real as is humanly possible, always fun and light, and occasionnally funny. Hopefully…we’ll get some people hooked as we move forward.

Anyway, you’ll hear plenty about this topic from me as this blog progresses, so I’m just going to leave you with this photo I took recently that I think is pretty damn hot…mostly because Audrey and Shianna were really into it…and it doesn’t hurt that they’re wearing tight jeans in this photo either.
